I was invited to the 22nd Biostudies Student Symposium organized by graduate students of the Graduate School of Biostudies at Kyoto University. It is a symposium for which the graduate students take full responsibility for planning, management, and execution, and it featured keynote lectures as well as excellent oral and poster presentations by students. During the Career Development Panel Discussion, I had the opportunity to serve as a panelist, and I learned a great deal from hearing the experiences of researchers who continue their careers in academia as postdoctoral fellows or PIs, as well as those who are active in industry. The students also asked many thoughtful questions, which led to a very lively and engaging discussion.
